Our History
This beautiful heritage listed church started its days as a methodist church, which goes back to the 1890's, in 1933 after a fire this magnificent building was erected. It stayed as a church until 1983 when it was tastefully converted to a restaurant and function centre and has remained so for the last 27 years. The building needed a new kitchen area with toilets/showers, coolrooms and storerooms, so an extra floor was added, the whole church was raised to accomodate the new ground level, you can see the old limestone blocks on which the building sits, this was considered an engineer feat and engineers today still marvel at the work.
The restaurant/function centre has had many different owners over the years, In July 2007, the present owners, Picasso's on Walcott took over the lease, they have come from a catering background and are well suited to functions and a la carte. Picasso's on Walcott intend to do as little structural work on the building as possible, if any, thus preserving the heritage and history of the building.
